About us

Maithri was established in September 2005 by a group of 3 renowned physicians who are in active medical practice in USA for over 30 years. The idea is to promote Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation along with traditional medicine. The practice of Ayurveda could be used as add-on therapy or as preventive therapy or as an alternative therapy.

President—Dr. Saraswathi Kalvakota, MD
Dr. Kalvakota is renowned internist, Geriatrician and a board certified pediatrician. She is well rounded in practicing medicine to all ages for over 20 years and gained knowledge in Ayurveda, yoga and meditation. Dr. Kalvakota is instrumental in conceiving the idea of establishing Maithri organization. She volunteers her personal time to various charitable organizations. Dr. Kalvakota is actively working full time for the growth of this organization. She currently lives in Dayton, Oh, USA.

Vice-President – Dr. Babu Rao Samudrala, MD
Dr. Samudrala is a practicing Internist and Geriatrician. He is serving several nursing homes in the capacity of medical director in addition to being in full time practice. He volunteers his personal time to various non - profit organizations specially HOPE organization in New York State and visits underdeveloped countries to provide free medical care. Currently he resides in Delhi, New York state.

Treasurer – Dr. Vijay Jain, MD
Dr. Jain is a practicing general surgeon who has a special interest in Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation. He studied Ayurveda with renowned vaidyas in USA and India. He volunteers teaching Ayurveda, yoga and meditation extensively in USA and India. He has over 30 years of experience in general surgery and currently practicing in Jamestown, Kentucky, USA.
